Lush Hair Suite's Hair Care Tips
When hair is received…
- Always inspect the hair before installing the hair. Leave the bundle intact.
- Next, you want to co-wash the hair (This is highly recommended for ALL 100% Virgin Hair.) If there are any issues with the hair you should notice at this time.
Our hair is 100% Virgin Hair and must be co-washed (washing hair with a moisturizing conditioner) in order to transform the hair from its raw state to beautiful hair that’s ready to install. Co-Wash the hair BEFORE you make changes to hair (color, perm, etc.).
- Prior to the installation of your hair extensions, for extra protection of your weft, we recommend you seal your weft! It will eliminate shedding and add longevity to your investment.
Sealing the wefts are suggested but not necessary.
Custom Wig Tips
1. Handle the wig with the elastic band or the perimeter of the cap but NEVER the lace of the closure or frontal
2. When putting on the unit, use the elastic band to put the wig on and then pull on the wig over your head from the back of the unit.
3. Don't treat your lace closures and frontals like real scalp. Avoid scratching and tugging at hair on the lace because it could cause the lace to rip or create bald spots.
4. Use a wig head ($3 - $4 at the BSS) to store your wigs. This ensures that it stays in great shape, minimizes tangles, and is ready to wear each time. Most importantly, just hang it up and out the way.
5. Detangle before washing or co-washing with a wide tooth comb from the bottom of the wig to the top. Never start at the top of the wig. It will cause shedding or destroy the lace
6. Wash your wig every 8 - 12 wears.
7. Minimize heat and products on the hair. For more details refer to the Hair Care Tips below.
8. Virgin Hair is not like synthetic hair. It takes time and effort to get used to styling it and giving it the desired look. However when you figure it out, you will see that it was the best decision you ever made!
Virgin Hair Tips
1. Have hair professionally installed and colored
Your hair is an investment. In order to assure that you get your money’s worth, let a professional color and install the hair so that it isn’t damaged but can truly flourish for its full life expectancy.
2. Use a Mild Shampoo to keep extensions clean
Use mild, silicone-free, and sulfate-free shampoo. Follow it up with conditioner, then rinse thoroughly with cold water. Gently scrunch up the hair to rejuvenate curls or waves. For curly hair, cowashes are an acceptable alternative to shampoo.
AVOID ALCOHOL BASED PRODUCTS TO AVOID DRYING OUT YOUR INVESTMENT.
Do NOT massage the hair.
3. Air Dry Your Hair
Heat leaves virgin hair dry and damaged. Also rubbing hair leaves it frizzy. For best results, gently drain water and allow it to air dry. If you are in a rush and must use a blow dryer, use it on a medium, cool setting.
4. Do not use a lot of product on the hair
Conditioner and Water will be your hair’s best friend. If additional products are used, make sure minimal amounts are used. Too many products will eventually dry out the hair and it won’t last as long as expected.
5. Use the right tools for hair maintenance
Use a wide tooth comb or a detangling brush for your hair. The wrong combs and brushes can damage hair and cause it to break off and shed.
6. Deep Condition your extensions
Since your virgin hair extensions were cut off from their donor, it stopped receiving the nourishment it needs to keep it shiny and healthy. Maintain the health of your hair and keep it from looking dry by deep conditioning it on a regular basis.
7. Nightly Hair Care
If you sleep on the hair, make a couple of loose braids and sleep with a satin bonnet on. Also never go to bed with wet hair because it will tangle.
8. Owner’s Special Hair Care Tip
Make a wig from the hair and use as little heat as possible!
Taking the wig off each night ensures that it isn’t rubbing against the nape of your neck and matting up. Furthermore, heatless styles help keep the hair in great shape. Refer to our new YouTube channel (in progress) or Instagram for heatless style tips.
For a wet look on curly hair, Dampen hair with a water bottle and leave in conditioner mixture.
Use a wide tooth comb, paddle brush or finger comb your hair beginning at the ends and work your way up to the wefts.
Your hair should last for at least 1 and a half to 2 years if these steps are followed.
